Vanity

Vanity is the second of the Strangely Dim photos to feature this particular tree. The other image is Transposed. The tree was such a striking subject that I had to give it more than one treatment.

In this image, the tree rises from the white lower half where some of its details can still be seen. From there, it morphs into a black shillouette against the sky.

It’s a dominant figure over the other trees in the background and there’s a feeling that it’s pushing itself to the foreground of the image while the rest of the landscape is pushed back.
