Dusk is part of a series of images taken in one night while the sun kept sinking lower and lower below the horizon. This was one of the last images taken.
While I knew I would be producing an image that was soft and very grainy (from camera movement and severe underexposure), I had to bump up the camera’s light sensitivity so much to keep the exposure from being just black that it made it even more grainy.
I think this adds to the sense of being otherworldly or between two states of existence or consciousness. That’s the feeling I was trying to create with all of the Strangely Dim photos.
