A Portal Through Time is a special piece for me. There’s a mass of thorny brambles, tall grasses, and small trees on the edge of a field near my house. I’ve spent many mornings sitting near them and photographing the songbirds that hop in and out of them, feeding on the tree berries.
It’s no small feat to capture these little guys. It seems that they know they’re being photographed and like to play hard-to-get. Anyway, I feel like I’ve gotten to know them a bit so it’s special to be able to include one of them in a printed piece.
The green effect in the background is no computer software trick. Rather, it’s another picture that I took of lake algae on one of my other outings. I was able to overlay the two images and get the otherworldly effect you see here.
